Frequently Asked Questions

How many Block will my job require?

1. You need to know the total length of the walls involved in the project and the height of the walls. If your project is a simple four wall foundation, you would add the lengths of each of the four walls together to find out the total length of wall.

If you have a foundation that measures 28' wide by 48' long, you would add 28+28+48+48 = 152. In this example the TOTAL WALL LENGTH is 152'.

MULTIPLY THE TOTAL WALL LENGTH by 0.75 to determine the TOTAL BLOCK PER ROW/COURSE. In this example the TOTAL BLOCK PER ROW/COURSE would be 152 x .075 = 114

2. WALL HEIGHT (measured in feet) is DIVIDED by 2, and then the result is MULTIPLIED by 3. This is the number of ROWS/COURSES of block in the foundation. In this example, the wall is ghoing to be 8'0" High.  8/2 = 4. 4 * 3=12.
The 8'0" high foundation is equal to 12 ROWS?COURSES of block.

3. The final step is to MULTIPLY the TOTAL BLOCKS PER ROW/COURSE by the TOTAL NUMBER OF ROWS/COURSES to arrive at the TOTAL BLOCK FOR THE JOB. In this example, 114 x 12 = 1368 BLOCK TOTAL, with no deductions for door or window openings.
